The New iPod Nano

Apple will be launching a new range of iPods on September 9th, at an event titled "Let's Rock'

The new iPod's, initially leaked by Digg Guru Kevin Rose, have a curved, futuristic look, more along the styled lines of the Macbook Air. Pictured here is a 'leaked' picture of the new iPod Nano, showing the new look. Kevin has his own set of predictions for this event, which are interesting, if not a little predictable.

Along with the Nano, the rest of the Apple iPod family is rumored to be updated. This includes the iPod classic range, apple's flagship high capacity models. Also, iTunes version 8 will be released, offering a exciting new feature set that ties in with the iPhone & the new iPod range.

So, what is new in the new iPods? & How much are the new iPods?

Hopefully, aside from the new styles & designs, we can expect a new software update for the iPod. No-one has speculated on new features, however higher capacity solid state storage space, such as on the Shuffle & Nano would surely be welcomed (say up-to 16GB/ 32Gb would be nice!). Whilst the iPod classic range is currently offering 160GB of storage, it's hard to say if this enormous amount of storage would be upgraded. But who knows?

Price structure is unknown, however Apple would do well to drop the price of the iPod Touch. With a iPhone available @ $199 US, the touch is a little uncompetitive at the moment. We could wish for a cheaper iPod touch, say around $250.Even better would be a 64GB iPod touch. Apple, do you hear me?

For certain release is iPhone software update 2.1, with whispers that it will include turn-by-turn GPS upgrade. Apple are, as always, remaining secretive and elusive until the second. Watch this space for more info, as it comes to hand.
